Family Vacation in Nashville

We just returned from a family vacation in Tennessee. We decided to go during our kids' spring break to hear some music and eat some ribs. We ended up staying in Nashville at both the beginning and end of our trip.

When we first arrived in Nashville, we stayed at the Hilton Downtown. It's a nice place in a great location. They have a good buffet breakfast and the conceirge is very knowledgeable and helpful. The location is great! It is just off of Broadway. Broadway is filled with music and food. The hotel is also near the visitor's center, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Arena. So it's also a good place if you are just stopping in for a concert or game.

On our return trip to Nashville, we stayed at The Hermitage. This is a luxurious hotel with incredible service. The rooms were larger than I expected and it was decorated beautifully. If you are looking for a really special place, this is it.

We loved Jack's BBQ. You wait in line to order and then hope you get a place to sit. We liked it so much we went there twice! The line may be long, but it is worth the wait. You also get a choice of different BBQ sauces. You can take one or all. I like the Kansas City sauce and my husband prefered the more spicy ones.

The Wild Horse Saloon was also really fun for the whole family. There, we just got alot of appetizers - I had never tried fried pickles before! They not only have country line dancing, but they also give lessons. The music was great! There is a small cover but it was worth it. We had a great time.

Whether or not you are a fan of country music, The Country Music Hall of Fame is something you have to see when in Nashville. We've never seen so many different kind of guitars, great fashions, etc. I was actually surprised at some of the names that were posted there because I didn't realize how big some of these stars truly were.

If you can go out of town, you have to go to The Grand Ole Opry. We took the tour so we got to go back stage, see the dressing rooms, and stand on stage. I have never been a big fan of country music, but I now have a new appreciation. This place is amazing!!

Also out of town is the Jack Daniels' Distillery. This was a great tour - we watched the process from start to finish and the sweet smell of Jack Daniels is everywhere (but not overbearing).

We loved Nashville. The people, music, food was all great. It's a perfect place if you want to get a way for a few days.
